Our Story

Though he is known by many as Pastor Al Best, his actions and messages clearly spotlight his gifting as an evangelist (one who tells others the good news about Jesus). Pastor Al retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service only to receive new travel orders from Lord shortly after. In 2007 he was told to leave his home state of Florida and move to the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota. After arriving in February of 2008 Pastor Al and his wife Jean soon began their first mission located 40 miles south of St.Cloud in Damsel.  The mission’s primary focus was ministry to the city's youth until he later transitioned into overseeing regular services for all ages. In 2016 the Lord again prompted Pastor Al and his family to move to the city of Anoka. Though the first 9 months were without any local ministry connections or support, that eventually changed when he crossed paths with an evangelist following other essential people whom God would plant around him for his next ministry work. He and his wife have now served in Anoka for 6 years with the sole mission to shine the light of Christ in what he boldly declares to be, "The Hallelujah Capital of the World!"

Our Vision and Mission

The mission of Light in Anoka (COGOP) is to shine the light of Christ in a world of darkness (John 8:12) through sharing God's word. practicing and teaching faith (Heb 11:1) and preparing both believers and non-believers for the soon return of our Lord and Savior King Jesus (1 Thess 4:16-18)
